The Women’s Institute for a Secure Retirement (WISER) is a non-profit in Washington DC and we sponsor an annual competition for undergraduate and graduate students. Student teams answer a question on retirement economic policy as it relates to millennials in the form of an essay and a short promotional video. The winning team shares a $5,000 prize and a stipend for a trip to Washington, DC to present their paper before a national audience of policy advocates and lawmakers. The faculty advisor for the team wins $1,500 and accompanies the group to DC.
I am attaching a flyer about the competition. I’m writing to ask if you would consider circulating and/or posting this to faculty and students and suggest that the faculty offer to be faculty mentors to interested student teams.
Please let me know if you are able to help. We are hoping to make this opportunity available to as many students as possible. Last year’s winning team from Columbia University said it was one of the best experiences of their college careers. This is a unique opportunity for students to learn more about retirement public policy, win a monetary prize and trip to DC to present their ideas to a national audience of policy experts and lawmakers.
Flyer is attached and the competition website is iomechallenge.org.
