Have you ever wanted to send something into OUTER SPACE?? Do you have a passion for (or even a slight interest in) space medicine? Have you dreamed of a shoutout from Jeff Bezos on Instagram? Wanted to meet astronauts, talk to space industry professionals, and hang out with Texan politicians?

You could do all this and more by joining the CSI’s Space Medicine Mission to send an experimental payload into space!

After sending Columbia Space Initiative’s first payload to space in December 2019 on a sub-orbital Blue Origin rocket, Zero-G is continuing its momentum with a new mission. Our next experiment will be aimed at developing an experimental payload to conduct medical research aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for 30-50 days in 2021.

Currently, we aim to focus our experiment on analyzing Tau and Amyloid proteins in microgravity conditions to better understand their formation, potential mutations, and changes over time. The idea is that we will be contributing to research aimed at understanding the onset of Alzheimer’s (& other cognitive disorders), which will hopefully lead to the discovery of effective ways to fight the disease.

All majors are welcome and no experience is required. All that’s asked is that you have a desire to learn and contribute however you can!

Examples of sub-teams that we are looking to fill relate to payload design, electronics/CS, biological experiment design, and logistical planning /finance.

This is an opportunity to add a unique fundraising endeavor to your resume. You’ll be part of a team responsible for securing ~$60,000 in funds.

Please join us at a zoom info session on Friday, September 18th at 10 am EST, and fill out our interest form so we can gauge general interest in the mission! (The info session will be recorded and sent out to those who fill out the interest form for anyone who can’t make it at that time)
