This year, the Columbia Seminar on Defense and Security (CSDS) will host a year-long discussion on the intersections of global security, military policy, and national intelligence. We invite you to join this seminar in its entirety or for any individual seminar that fits your calendar.

Our next speaker will be Michael O’Hara, U.S. Naval War College, on Wednesday, February 24th, from 1-2pm. O’Hara is associate dean for research integration in the Center for Naval Warfare Studies, U.S. Naval War College. He will be speaking about strategic risk and decision-making insights gained from war gaming. O’Hara has been assigned to multiple international assignments and utilizes his experience to teach courses on strategy, war, and policy, as well game theory and strategic decision-making. [Attached is a PDF invitation with O’Hara’s short bio].

Looking ahead, we hope that you will also mark your calendars for March 10th with Robert Bradford, U.S. Army War College and April 7th with Micah Zenko, McChrystal Group [same timing: 1-2pm and attached is a PDF schedule for the spring semester].

To facilitate discussion, we limit attendance to 30 people per session. Therefore, please RSVP in advance to the seminar’s rapporteur, Kirill Buskirk, by emailing defensesecurity@columbia.edu. Upon receipt, Mr. Buskirk will send our (optional) read-ahead materials. In keeping with the University’s Covid protocols, the seminar will be held via video, and zoom information will be provided in advance to those who register.
