About the Summer School

Since 1998, the annual IZA Summer School in Labor Economics has taken place in the conference center of Deutsche Post DHL at the Ammersee lake (near Munich) in Bavaria, Germany.

The objective of the Summer School is to bring together a large number of PhD students and senior lecturers to study new areas in labor economics. Students have the opportunity to present their work and discuss ideas with established researchers in a relaxed and open atmosphere.

The School is open to advanced graduate students from European universities, or Europeans studying abroad, engaged in the preparation of a doctoral dissertation or approaching that stage. Around 30 students will be selected, based on their preparation to participate in advanced study on the subject.

    • Lecturers:
Randi Hjalmarsson (University of Gothenburg)
“Selected Topics in the Economics of Crime: Prisons, Juries, (and More)”
Seth Sanders (Cornell University)
“Theory, Estimation and Applications of Finite Mixture Models”
