Background: SIPA Professors Paul Lagunes and Jan Svejnar are in the process of publishing a coedited volume about the Lava Jato corruption scandal that originated in Brazil and extended to other countries in Latin America. The volume will consist of approximately 15 chapters written in English by several experts.
Job Description: The goal is to submit the complete draft of the book manuscript relatively soon, and so we are looking to hire a student to work as a research assistant to help in completing the following three tasks:
(1) the critical review of the draft chapters
(2) copyediting the draft chapters
(3) formatting the draft chapters to meet the publishers’ requirements.
Pay is set at $25 per hour.
Desired Skills:
• Given the above tasks, the ideal candidate is someone who writes exceptionally well in English, shows great attention to detail and grammar, and can work efficiently. Excellent writing skills are a must, as is experience with common office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Interest in economics and/or economic governance is preferred but not required.
About the Position:
• Compensation: $25/hr
• Hours: The person hired for the job should expect to work 10 hours a week
• Timeframe: July and August
