The Research Analyst supports the Vice President and Director of the Global Economy and Development program by providing research, writing, data and statistical analysis related to policies and trends affecting developing countries including global poverty, the global middle class, fragile states, globalization, inequality, foreign assistance and development effectiveness. As an integral member of the Development Assistance and Governance Initiative research team, she/he performs analysis with limited supervision and delivers high quality output in a timely manner. This is a two-year termed appointment, to start June 18.

  • Conducts empirical research and policy analysis on policies and trends
  • Performs advanced, complex quantitative data analysis of large datasets and trends, utilizing econometric and other statistical methods
  • Creates and manages datasets within Stata or R; writes code in Stata or R to operationalize analysis methodologies
  • Creates tables, graphs, and other data visualizations that clearly communicate research findings
  • Documents data methodologies in detail for both internal use and publication
  • Conducts literature reviews, monitors and analyzes relevant material from conferences and seminars, government documents, academic journals and policy publications, institutional databases and reports from a wide variety of sources, including development organizations and NGOs
  • Supports Scholar with drafting, editing and proof reading of research reports, policy briefs, articles, blogs, and other published materials
  • Contributes to grant-writing activities, in coordination with program staff and Fellows
  • Corresponds with collaborating researchers in other institutions and responds to requests
  • Assists with the organization of and attends meetings and conferences related to the Fellow’s work, in collaboration with program staff
  • Works with the program’s web site coordinator to maintain strategic oversight of the content of project-specific web pages and publications
