Full-time RA position with Prof Weinstein (Economics)
- The Department of Economics at Columbia University invites applications for a Staff Associate to begin July 1, 2018. The initial appointment is for one year, with renewal contingent upon the availability of funding. The staff associate will be appointed to work for a senior professor in Economics on a data-intensive research project focusing on international trade and prices. The purpose of the position will be to program and analyze large panel data sets for the principal investigator and to assist with general tasks for the project.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with a major or minor in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Required Qualifications: Strong computer skills and programming experience in STATA. The applicant must be able to work in a Linux environment. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work with a high degree of independence is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Research experience in an academic setting; interest in empirical economics research; ability to program in R, MatLab, Python or other statistical software, or the ability to quickly learn such programs.
