Since 1934, an equal number of students from the U.S. and Japan are competitively selected each year to spend one summer month together, studying and analyzing Japan-U.S. relations while visiting three diverse regions in the host country. Last year’s conference brought together students from universities such as University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Keio University, Harvard University, and UC Berkeley, among others.
The 74th Japan-America Student Conference (JASC) will bring together American and Japanese university students from a variety of academic disciplines to live, travel, and conduct original peer-reviewed research together. Over the course of this academically intensive and culturally immersive conference, accepted student delegates will build lifelong friendships, develop cross-cultural communication skills, and connect with leading professionals in the field of US-Japan relations, all while gaining a firsthand understanding of this ever-evolving and multifaceted relationship.
The 74th JASC will travel to New York, Washington D.C., and San Francisco from August 3 to August 26, 2022. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until11:59 p.m. EST February 4, 2022.
