Are you in any year of a graduate program in Arts & Sciences and interested in learning more about higher education in prison? Each year, Columbia’s Justice-in-Education (JIE) Initiative offers a range of opportunities to support justice-impacted students.
Please join JIE for an informational panel. Graduate students across disciplines will discuss their work as Course Facilitators for Columbia classes in prison facilities, and students will discuss their learning experiences in those classes. JIE staff will also be on hand to share other ways to get involved. This event is a great opportunity to learn about JIE’s work, plan ahead for how it might fit into your graduate school career, and register interest. Lunch will be served.
This event will be panel discussion among Taylor Rae Almonte (Human Rights), Patrick Anson (English & Comparative Literature), Jennifer Berry (Hudson Link Reentry Case Manager), Ivan Calaff (JIE Reentry Coordinator), Mia Florin-Sefton (English & Comparative Literature), and Nick Ide (Biological Sciences). Lunch will be served.
Email Kate Suffern with questions (cjs2240@columbia.edu) or if you cannot attend but would like to learn more.
