How to Improve Presidential Elections
The Spring PER Distinguished Lecture will be held in the Presidential Ballroom of Columbia University’s Faculty House (get directions) on Wednesday, April 8th. The Lecture, given by Eric S. Maskin, Adams University Professor and Professor of Economics & Mathematics, Department of Economics, Harvard University, will be held from 5:00-6:30PM.
Current methods for electing presidents in the United States and abroad leave much room for improvement. In this lecture, Professor Eric S. Maskin discusses his work on finding better voting systems. Proceeding axiomatically, he shows that there are exactly two systems that are optimal: Condorcet voting and Borda voting.
This lecture is sponsored by Columbia University’s Program for Economic Research (PER). Please direct all questions to econ-per@columbia.edu.
