We would like to bring to your attention a great opportunity for PhD students in economics and finance.

The European Central Bank published a call for papers for its Young Economist Prize 2026. This is an annual research competition that offers talented students the chance to share their fresh perspectives on today’s challenges.

Selected applicants will be invited to present their research to top policymakers and academics at the ECB Forum on Central Banking in Sintra (Portugal) from June 29 to July 1, 2026. The winner of the Young Economist Prize will be awarded with €10,000.

This prize is an opportunity for young researchers to contribute to the future of Europe with their innovative research and for universities to enhance their international reputation, as selected finalists become ambassadors representing their respective academic institutions at the ECB’s flagship conference in Sintra.

We would be grateful if you could distribute the call for papers to your students and any other colleagues who might have eligible students. It has also been advertised on our social media channels: InstagramLinkedInBlueSky, and X.  The deadline for applications is March 2.  We welcome applicants irrespective of their nationality and gender. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Kind regards,

Gaia Scotto di Minico
