Harrison Hong is the Executive Director of the Program for Economic Research (PER) and the John R. Eckel Jr. Professor of Financial Economics at Columbia University. A visionary in the field of financial economics, Professor Hong leads the PER in its mission to foster cutting-edge research and facilitate intellectual exchange between Columbia faculty and the global economic community.

A distinguished academic career, including faculty positions at Princeton University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, backs his leadership. A 1997 M.I.T. Ph.D. graduate, his contributions have been recognized with the prestigious Fischer Black Prize and honorary doctorates from the Stockholm School of Economics and Aalto University.

He currently serves as a co-author for the Fifth National Climate Assessment for the U.S. Congress and acts as an advisor to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on climate risk. His recent work centers on the financial system’s role in addressing climate change.
