
External Affairs & Communications Internship with the Sustainability Graduate Programs

Description:
The Sustainability Management and Sustainability Science graduate programs are seeking an intern to work on the External Affairs & Communications team. The intern will assist with recruitment, outreach, and marketing for the graduate programs. The intern will also generate video, written, and graphic content. Support may also be sought for professional development and alumni activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in communications, event coordination, working in a highly professional environment on a diverse range of projects, and be comfortable balancing creative work with operational tasks.
Responsibilities:
The External Affairs & Communications Intern will report to the Director, External Affairs &
Communications, for the Sustainability Graduate Programs. The intern will support the admissions and operations efforts for the sustainability graduate programs. Primary projects will include updating and creating web and social media content; contributing to our communications strategy; drafting a weekly newsletter; event planning and staffing; drafting and editing blogs/articles/profiles; cold-calling/outreach for co-curricular programming; and supporting our programs’ Capstone Workshop.
The position will play a role in organizing recruitment events and yield events, both virtual and on-campus. Additional projects will include researching and assessing the current higher ed climate and sustainability program landscape to document peer programs’ communication efforts and admissions standards. Responsibilities may include updating program materials; managing/developing internal and external marketing materials, including PowerPoint presentations and other creative digital or video collateral; and managing large contact databases.
Skills Required:
- Applicants should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and possess strong written and verbal
- communication skills
- Experience with MS Office tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required
- The ideal candidate will be personable, proactive, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced
- environment while remaining organized and precise
- Discretion in handling applicant communication, application materials, and other sensitive
- information
- A strong interest in the environment and sustainable development is preferred
Type of Student desired: Graduate or undergraduate students
Compensation:
$23/hour, 10-20 hours/week. Position to start ASAP.
