Hello,

Two Sigma is proud to announce the continuation of the Two Sigma PhD Fellowship program, supporting doctoral students who are expanding frontiers in a STEM field. We are excited to share a couple updates to our application process this year:

  • We now require students to submit their own applications directly and no longer have a limit to the number of students per department who may apply. Our hope is that this change will increase accessibility to potential funding.
  • We will no longer require recommendation letters be submitted in the initial application stage. Instead, letters will only be requested for those who advance to the second round of review in order to reduce administrative burden for professors. Note that we will still require the names and emails of two references be submitted in the application.

Applications for the 2026 PhD Fellowship will be due by September 20th, 2025, at 12:00pm ET through our online application process. We assess applications based on students’ research proposals, resumes, transcripts, and recommendation letters. Please see the links below for further information:

If you could please kindly share this announcement with students and faculty, directing them to the information included above, we would sincerely appreciate it. We look forward to continuing our partnership between faculty, staff, students, and Two Sigma!

Best regards,

Alysha Sadarangani on behalf of the Two Sigma Academic Partnerships Team
