The Fall 2025 application for the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) is now open!
We invite you to apply to one of our SEAS master’s or doctoral programs, because now more than ever, the world needs bold leaders who are ready to tackle urgent environmental challenges.
At SEAS, we empower you to explore your passions and develop your potential to become a sustainability leader. Applying to SEAS has never been easier! There is no application fee for domestic students, and we no longer require or accept GRE scores for our programs.
Here are the key dates and deadlines:
- December 2, 2024: PhD application deadline
- December 16, 2024: Early master’s degree application deadline
- January 15, 2025: Funding consideration deadline
SEAS is hosting fall events where you can get to know the SEAS community, learn about different sustainability topics and ask questions about the application process.

To help you navigate the application process, we’ll be offering two webinar series geared toward prospective students. In our Application Success Webinar Series, we’ll share best practices to make your application shine and answer questions you may have about applying to SEAS. Sessions will be held from October 2024 to January 2025. REGISTER NOW.
In our other series, Forging a Sustainable Future: SEAS Fall Webinar Series, you’ll have an opportunity to hear from faculty, staff and current students about various sustainability topics during 30-minute sessions. Events will be held from October to December 2024. SEAS Dean Jonathan Overpeck will kick off the series with “Creating Impact at SEAS: Leading in a World with a Changing Climate” on Monday, October 7, from 5-5:30 p.m. REGISTER NOW.
