The Economic Studies program at Brookings and its Hutchins Center on Fiscal & Monetary Policy is recruiting an ABD or recent PhD in economics (or a closely related field) for the Alice Rivlin Fellowship. The one or two-year Fellowship is for an early career scholar focused on fiscal policy broadly defined, as Alice did, to include federal benefit programs, taxes, budget process, debt and deficits, fiscal federalism, and public investment.
The Fellow will have the opportunity to focus on a particular policy-relevant project(s) with the guidance of Brookings scholars, including Louise Sheiner, the policy director of the Hutchins Center. The Fellow also will participate in seminars and conferences at Brookings, and work with other Economic Studies scholars. The Fellowship includes a stipend in the mid-$80,000s and benefits.
Through this Fellowship, we are eager to promote diversity in our scholarly community and the economics profession and we would like to cast as wide a net as possible. We hope you will help us spread the word. David Wessel, the director of the Hutchins Center, or Louise Sheiner would be more than happy to field questions from any interested scholar. The job posting and the link to apply is here.
Economic Studies is one of five programs at Brookings. Its scholars conduct rigorous research and policy analysis and communicate their findings to inform policymakers and the public in the areas of broad-based economic growth, economic opportunity and mobility, inclusive social policy, sound monetary and fiscal policy, and climate-resilient growth. The Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy, housed within the program, seeks to improve the quality and efficacy of fiscal and monetary policies and public understanding of them.
