The Stanford Initiative for Financial Decision-Making and our event sponsor, the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), are excited to announce the 2026 Stanford Financial Education Symposium. The Symposium, which will take place on April 23-24 in conjunction with Financial Literacy Month in the United States, offers an ongoing forum for the presentation and discussion of financial education papers that advance academic research, inform policy, and help identify effective financial education programs.
The Symposium will be held on the Stanford Graduate School of Business campus. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2026. We welcome research submissions addressing all types of financial education, including:
- Programs in primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, workplaces, and other venues.
- Papers that assess the effectiveness of financial education and its influence on financial behavior and other outcomes.
- Papers on financial literacy and personal finance.
Academic faculty and researchers in economics and related fields studying financial education are encouraged to submit papers. We also welcome papers from advanced PhD students. The program includes a special session dedicated to PhD student research and a poster session.
Authors of selected papers may be invited to submit to the Journal of Financial Literacy and Wellbeing.
