The MA in Global Thought program at Columbia University is accepting applications. This interdisciplinary, research-based course of study is designed to understand and address emerging challenges and opportunities on a global scale. Global Thought examines local phenomena as part of the larger systems and processes shaping our futures.
We invite interested students to attend an upcoming virtual information session on October 17, from 6:15-7:00 PM ET to learn more. We would welcome applications from any current students who might be interested in the MA in Global Thought.
This innovative one-year graduate program at Columbia’s historic campus in New York City enables students to explore global connections and commonalities by tailoring the curriculum to their interests and aspirations. In addition to their core courses, students design a flexible plan of study across departments and schools, which they leverage to complete their capstone essays. In past years, student independent research projects have covered topics such as populism as a global phenomenon, public health communications in different national contexts, and the future of employment in a world of artificial intelligence.
Early applications for the 2025-2026 program are due on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The final deadline is Thursday, March 20, 2025.
We offer partial funding awards based on need and merit.
Students can learn more about the program and application on October 17. There will also be other information sessions this fall and next spring.
Please visit the MA in Global Thought website for full program details.
