As the Applications Chairs for the 25th Carroll Round, we are writing to invite all interested undergraduate students at Columbia University to apply to this year’s Carroll Round Undergraduate Economics Research Conference. The Carroll Round, held annually at Georgetown University, provides a unique forum for the world’s brightest undergraduate economics students to present and discuss their original research across all subfields of economics. Participants receive feedback from professors, practitioners, and fellow presenters, and may publish in the Carroll Round Proceedings.
This year’s conference will take place at Georgetown University from April 16th to April 19th, 2026. In addition to presenting, attendees will have opportunities to meet one another and hear from distinguished speakers in the field. Past keynote speakers include nine Nobel laureates, three former Chairs of the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers, former chief economists of both the IMF and World Bank, and many other globally influential leaders in economics.
Currently enrolled undergraduate students are invited to apply to the 25th Carroll Round Conference. We recognize that applications at this time may represent works in progress. International applicants invited to present are responsible for obtaining visas and travel documents, and those who are unable to travel to the U.S. may join our online sessions. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until 11:59PM February 20, 2026, for international applicants and 11:59PM March 13, 2026, for domestic applicants. Decisions will be returned within two weeks of each deadline.
We are committed to making the conference accessible to all who wish to participate, and encourage all applicants whose research demonstrates econometric rigor and original insight to apply. Funds may be available to cover the cost of transportation to Washington for participants who cannot secure funding from their institution. Historically, we have been able to meet the vast majority of participants’ outstanding financial needs.
We kindly ask that you forward this letter to all interested undergraduate students and faculty advisors of research-oriented economics courses. More information about the history of the Carroll Round can be found on our website. We look forward to receiving your application!
