Dear Students,
GSAS is now accepting applications for the Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship.
The will and estate of Dolores Zohrab Liebmann created a charitable trust, “The Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund,” to fund advanced education and graduate study, which must be carried out entirely in the United States.
Candidate Qualifications
- Fellowships are available to MA or PhD student enrolled in an Arts and Sciences program who will continue their studies in 2025-2026.
- Program of study being pursued by the candidate may include any recognized field of study in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture or other formal professional training). The selection committee has a strong preference for supporting scholarly endeavors.
- Candidate must have received a baccalaureate degree at the time of application and have an outstanding undergraduate record.
- Candidate must demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
- Candidate must be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Candidate may be of any national descent or background.
Other Fellowship Application Details
- The amount of each Fellowship will cover actual tuition cost only (no fees) plus an $18,000 annual stipend to be allocated towards room, board and ordinary living expenses, as well as any income taxes thereon.
- Students must complete the DZL Printed Application 2025-2026 and provide all Required Supplemental Documentation.
- Please do not send materials in notebooks, report covers or folders.
- Submit the Required Supplemental Documentation at the time of submission. Any missing documentation will prevent the application from moving forward to selection committee review.
Application Deadline
In order to be considered for the fellowship, you must submit your application and supporting materials to the GSAS Fellowships Office via email by the internal application deadline of Friday, January 3, 2025 at 5:00 pm EST.
Letters of recommendation must also be emailed by the recommender to gblack@columbia.edu by Friday, January 3, 2025 at 5:00 pm EST.
After the application deadline, a committee will select two GSAS students to be nominated for further consideration.
