AREUEA Doctoral Worker

AREUEA is looking for a doctoral student to assist with conferences, dissemination, writing, and organizational and scientific tasks. You will be hired through a temporary work agency and work an average of seven to ten hours per week, with a degree of flexibility that can be negotiated throughout the year (e.g., more, or less time on specific months). The position is fully remote, but participation in our conferences is encouraged. You will report to the current president and executive vice president of AREUEA. The salary is $35 per hour.

More importantly, this is a great opportunity to learn how a premier research and academic organization operates. You will have a front-row seat to the decision-making process at conferences and learn many details about how the profession works. You will also establish innumerable contacts with current scholars active in urban economics and real estate: this will provide with name-recognition and contacts that could be a leg up in the academic job market.

Preference in hiring will be given to candidates:

  • Who are Ph.D. students in Economics or Finance.
  • Who can work legally in the United States for up to ten hours a week in addition to their other tasks in their Ph.D. institutions.
  • You have an expectation of a 2-year service, with the possibility of a 3rd year extension (e.g., you are in your second or third year in you Ph.D. program and can work with us for the next two or three).
  • Interest in learning about the workings of professional scientific organizations.
  • Interest in interacting with scholars in Urban Economics and Real Estate Finance

Candidates should send their CV and cover letter electronically, explaining why you’d like to work with AREUEA to:
