Registration for the 7th annual Warwick Economics PhD Conference is now open. This year the event will take place on 3-4 June 2019 at the Department of Economics, University of Warwick.

This event is organised by research students at the Warwick Economics Department, funded by the Department and attended by faculty members. This is an exceptional opportunity to receive feedback on your work, to understand what your international colleagues are working on in more detail, to build up networks and to improve your presentation skills.

This year the organisers are proud to announce that the conference will begin with a keynote speech from the esteemed Professor Debraj Ray. Prof. Ray, known for his pioneering work in Development Economics and Game Theory, is at the Economics Department at New York University and a part-time professor at the University of Warwick.

The conference papers will be evaluated by a scientific committee, consisting of Warwick Economics Faculty members and PhD students. Papers from Economics and related disciplines are invited. We are not looking for polished papers exclusively; early stage projects are also very welcome. Please submit an extended abstract of strictly no more than 1500 words or 3 pages, outlining the contribution, methodology and results of the paper.  We will prioritise single-authored papers or papers co- authored with other PhD students.

Please specify whether you want your project to be considered for the presentation session, for the poster session or for both. In the presentation session, the presenter should be prepared to talk for 25 minutes, following which there will be a 10-minute discussion led by a PhD student. If you wish to attend the event, we may require you to discuss a paper related to your field of research.

The deadline for submission is Sunday 20 January 2019 (Midnight GMT), but the earlier the better. Applicants will be notified regarding the decision via email by mid-February 2019. The application form and updated information can be found on theconference webpage.

For delegates accepted to the conference, accommodation for the nights of 2 June (only for participants travelling from outside the UK) and 3 June will be provided. For delegates travelling from Europe, a maximum of £350 of reimbursement for travelling expenses will be available. For delegates travelling from the rest of the world, a maximum travelling cost of £700 will be available. All registered attendees and presenters will have lunches and dinners provided.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Kind regards,

Antonio, Neha, Daniel, Ashish and Riccardo
