We have just opened applications for two different opportunities in the Richmond Fed research department:

  1. RAs: This is a full time two-year position for candidates graduating in the summer of 2023; it should be particularly interesting to someone considering an academic career in economics. Applications close on October 3rd.
  2. Summer 2023 internship: 10 weeks, full-time, paid internship doing research alongside RAs and economists. This is a great way to get early exposure to academics, and successful interns may be offered RA positions once they graduate. Applications close at the end of October.

We are very interested in getting the information about these opportunities to people traditionally underrepresented in the economics profession. I thank you in advance for your help with sharing the information with those students.

As you know, being an RA is a challenging job that requires good technical background, but we put a lot of weight in the ability and interest to learn new tools. We are a welcoming department and we are committed to mentor our RAs and interns in their learning and in their next steps. About 50% of our RAs and interns go on to a PhD in economics, and they get placed in solid, and sometimes top, programs (in the last 3 years: Chicago, Stanford, Northwestern).

The links to apply for the positions are above.
