Professor Nathan Hendren is looking to hire a pre-doctoral fellow beginning in summer 2021 to work with him on research in empirical welfare analysis. The work will build upon some of his previous research estimating the welfare impact of government policies by conducting similar analyses in new topic areas including environmental regulation, crime, tax, and macroeconomic policy. The position is intended to provide experiences that will be most beneficial to applicants considering future graduate work in economics. The work will include in-depth exposure to a broad literature in economics and experience with advanced empirical and statistical methods. Pre-doctoral fellows are invited to participate in broader activities at Harvard, including seminars and courses, and will be connected to a broader community of pre-doctoral fellows at Harvard and Opportunity Insights.
Students with backgrounds under-represented in economics are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should be completing (or have completed) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, have strong quantitative skills, and experience with empirical research methods.
The application deadline is March 15. Interested applicants can apply here.
