We are seeking RAs for a research project on the effect of legal definitions of employment, entitled What’s in a Name? How Definitions of “Employee” Shape Worker-Firm Relationships. This project examines the role of changing legal definitions of whether workers are “employees” on worker outcomes including wages, unionization rates, employment level and inequality.

RAs will be responsible for data collection and classification. Primary tasks will include reading relevant legal cases and classifying (i) the decision that was made, and (ii) the set of workers who were affected. RAs may also be asked to write code to help link specific judges to case decisions, and help edit/review work. All work is available to be done remotely.

Pay is $15/hour, at 7-10 hours per week.
