The NBER project on the Economics of Artificial Intelligence will hold a full day workshop for graduate students and recent PhDs interested in learning about this topic in Toronto on September 23, 2020. Funding for the hotel and travel required to attend the workshop is provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

This workshop is the latest in a series; details of past workshops are available at http://conference.nber.org/sched/YSAIf18 and http://conference.nber.org/sched/YSAIf19.

Some of the workshop participants will be invited to attend the fourth annual NBER Conference in AI on September 24-5, also in Toronto.

To be considered for participation in the workshop, applicants should prepare a single pdf file, labeled with their name, containing the following information:

• Contact information, including email address.
• A one page CV, including key coursework, major (and minor if applicable) focus of study.
• A maximum 300-word summary of the applicant’s interest in AI. This could include research already undertaken, links to current research that focuses on AI topics, or reasons for newly formed interest in the economics of AI.

Please upload applications by midnight (EDT) on June 1, 2020 here.

The organizers welcome applications from researchers who are from groups that are under-represented in the economics profession.

Please forward this announcement to students who might be interested in participating in this workshop, and to colleagues who may not have received it.  For more information, please contact Denis Healy at dhealy@nber.org.
