As Vice Dean of Wharton Doctoral Programs, it is my pleasure to announce the 7th annual Introduction to Diversity in Doctoral Education and Scholarship (IDDEAS@Wharton) program hosted at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

IDDEAS@Wharton is a two-day program, April 4-5, 2019, introducing outstanding undergraduates to the field of business academia and research. The aim of IDDEAS@Wharton is to create a diverse doctoral student environment and, in turn, a diverse faculty population.

I’d like to share a reflection from one of last year’s IDDEAS@Wharton participants: “IDDEAS has already provided me with many questions regarding the research topic that I am interested in. This program has given me clarity that I did not know I needed. I will be utilizing everything I learned in my doctoral applications and in my research.” This feedback illustrates the core of IDDEAS@Wharton.

IDDEAS@Wharton Scholars have gone on to enter top business doctoral programs including Emory University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Duke University, INSEAD, University of Indiana and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The program is designed for undergraduate students who demonstrate a strong interest in math, statistics, economics, psychology/sociology, and/or engineering related disciplines and want to know more about PhD research degrees in business. We encourage all interested students to apply. IDDEAS@Wharton will give participants an opportunity to experience what it means to be a PhD student and to enter a career as a professor, academic and/or researcher. IDDEAS@Wharton participants will take part in doctoral-level research exercises, take mini-master classes with Wharton faculty, hear from Wharton doctoral students, and much more.

To enrich the field of business academia and research, the IDDEAS@Wharton program invites applicants from all academic and personal backgrounds.

Participation in IDDEAS@Wharton is through a competitive selection process. Attendance and accommodations are free of charge including modest travel grants. The application deadline is January 31, 2019. You can access the application here. In addition to the application form, applicants must submit:

· Essay

· Self-reported or official transcripts

· Letter of recommendation from a faculty member or advisor

Please share this email with faculty and advisors to encourage talented undergraduates to apply to IDDEAS@Wharton. The ultimate goal of IDDEAS@Wharton is to create the next generation of outstanding business researchers and scholars across our collective campuses.
