PLEASE NOTE: The application deadline has been extended to March 20, 2022.

The 21st Carroll Round Steering Committee would like to invite all interested students at Columbia University to apply to this year’s Carroll Round Undergraduate Economics Research Conference. The Carroll Round is an undergraduate international economics conference at Georgetown University, providing a unique forum for the world’s best undergraduate students studying international economics and political economy to present and discuss their original research. At the conference, undergraduates will have an unparalleled opportunity to engage in an academic environment and converse with world-renowned economists in an intimate setting. In addition, all the accepted papers will have the chance to be published in the Carroll Round Proceedings.

This year’s conference, which will be held at Georgetown University from April 21st through April 24th, 2022, will bring together participants, prominent academics, and policy-makers in presentations, discussions, and speeches. We hold keynote lectures and events throughout the weekend to provide attendees with opportunities to hear from eminent economists. This year, we are honored to host Nobel Laureate Dr. Joshua Angrist and Thomas D. Cabot Professor of Public Policy Kenneth Rogoff. Previous keynote speakers also include Susan Athey, Ben Bernanke, John Nash, Rajiv Shah, and Joseph Stiglitz. A full list of our past speakers can be found here.

Currently enrolled students may submit their applications to participate in the 21st Carroll Round Conference. Since the Carroll Round’s inception, we have underscored the importance of international economics research. We highly encourage international papers, but are also willing to consider exemplary papers on other economic topics. The Steering Committee also recognizes that applications made at this time may represent works in progress. International applicants who are invited to present at the conference are responsible for obtaining visas and travel documents. Those who cannot physically travel to the U.S. may join our online sessions. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis until March 20, 2022. Decisions will be returned within two weeks of each deadline.
