Research in Color is a Black women-led non-profit that aims to increase the number of historically underrepresented scholars in economics and related fields. We are now accepting applications for the mentoring program through the deadline of Sunday, October 31st. We match URM students looking to pursue doctoral degrees in economics or economics-adjacent disciplines with seasoned economists who guide them through the Ph.D. application process and work through a 6-8 month-long research project with them.

The mentees have the opportunity to present their research at our annual conference in August. This year’s conference keynote speaker was Prof. William Spriggs with panels featuring Prof. Amy Finkelstein, Prof. Jesse Rothstein, and Economics Nobel Prize winner Esther Duflo. Additionally, mentees have access to quantitative skills-building workshops through institutions like J-PAL at MIT, the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and the World Bank. We also provide financial support to cover costs incidental to the application process, which can be prohibitive for many students of color. More information on Research In Color (RIC), past mentors and mentees, as well as the application process can be found on our website.
