Unpaid Summer Economics Internships with the ANTITRUST DIVISION

The Economic Analysis Group in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice has openings for two unpaid undergraduate and one unpaid graduate summer interns. The Economic Analysis Group consists of approximately 50 Ph.D. economists who provide economic analysis for antitrust cases brought by the Division. The primary focus of our work is applied microeconomics, with an emphasis on competitive interactions between firms in specific markets. Interns will work closely with staff economists to define relevant product and geographic markets, determine pricing patterns, find trends in large datasets, perform statistical analysis of firm behavior within markets, and provide exhibits (such as data, charts, and graphs) that may be required for litigation.
The Economic Analysis Group is looking for detail-oriented, highly motivated individuals with an interest in microeconomics and who have completed a course in econometrics or a similar discipline. In addition to coursework in economics, experience working with statistics, spreadsheets, computer databases, or other types of computer programming is required.

Interested applicants should send a resume, a short writing sample on an economic topic, contact information for two references, and a copy of their college transcript via e-mail to atr.eagra@usdoj.gov. A security background check is required. All work assignments will be in Washington, DC, and all interns must be U.S. citizens. Applications must be received by March 1, 2019.
