On October 8, Columbia University held the Presidential Economic Advisers Forum, an event featuring the senior economic advisers to the 2012 Republican and Democratic presidential candidates. R. Glenn Hubbard, the adviser to Mitt Romney, and Jeffrey Liebman, adviser to President Obama, presented and debated the economic policies proposed by the candidates. They were joined in the discussion by three other panelists: Columbia professors Sharyn O’Halloran, Joseph Stiglitz and Michael Woodford. Chrystia Freeland, the Global Editor-at-Large at Thomson Reuters, moderated the conversation, which covered topics like tax revenue, national debt, and job and GDP growth. Columbia University President Lee Bollinger presented the opening remarks. This event was hosted by the World Leaders Forum, the Program for Economic Research, the Committee on Global Thought, and the Center on Global Economic Governance.
